James was sitting in his office at the MDPD crime lab, it was an abnormally slow day for him, he sighed and sat back in his chair, looking at the photo of him, Natalia and the kids, which brought a smile to his face

meanwhile, two men in a light grey van were watching Ana Hernandez, waiting to make make the right move in grabbing her

Ana was walking down the Calle Ocho in Little Havana with her friend Kiki, talking about their weekend as they were going to school. One of the rare days that they were actually going to school. Ana didn't realize that the light grey van was following them and two men were watching her.

the two men in the van spoke in Spanish about Ana, then made their move, pulling out of the spot they were in, the drove up to her and Kiki, once close enough, one of the men jumped out and grabbed Ana, shoving Kiki to the ground at the same time

Ana tried to scream as she was grabbed and pulled towards the van. Kiki screamed.
"Eh! Déjala en paz!" Kiki screamed and tried to get up and help her friend. "Ayuda!"

[Déjala en paz = leave her alone, Ayuda! = Help!]

the kidnapper clamped his hand over Ana's mouth as he dragged her into the van, once in he closed the door, at which point the van sped off, inside, the man who grabbed Ana bound and gagged her with duct tape

Ana screamed when she got the chance, but no one would hear her, besides the two scumbags kidnapping her. But she didn't even know why she was kidnapped.

the driver took them to an abandoned factory in Little Havana, once there, the took Ana inside, leaving her on a dirty mattress in a dimly light room


at the same time, James, Eric and other officers were at the place Ana was kidnapped from

Kiki had called the cops after the guys drove off and she hoped that she could help finding her friend. She was sitting on the curb stone edge and waited for them to arrive and talk to her.

Meanwhile Ana was left alone and she cursed in Spanish, though only in her mind as it would only be a muffled sound if she tried saying something. Upon being left alone, Ana tried to free herself.

the police soon arrived, James saw Kiki and walked over to her, "Senorita?" he asked in a respectful tone when close enough


at the same time, the two goons celebrated their work

Kiki got up, seeing James. She was surprised that he talked to her in Spanish.
"Si? You're the police?" she asked.

James nodded, I am he replied in Spanish, knowing that it was best to do so

Kiki looked at James. "Usted habla español?" Kiki asked.

[Usted habla español = formal form of "You speak spanish?"]

"Si" James replied with a slight nod, "Yo viví en España como el cabrito."

(I lived in Spain as a kid)

Kiki smiled a little. "Cool. But I speak a good English, too."

[the right translation for your sentence is that: "Yo viví en España cuando era un niño." At least it sounds better. ]

James nodded in reply, "Can you tell me what happened?" he asked

"I uh... it happened so fast. There came that light grey van. Two guys jumped out, one pushed me to the ground the other one grabbed Ana and pulled her into the van then they drove off." Kiki said, still a little rattled.

James nodded, seeing that Kiki was still rattled by what happened, "Did you get a good look at who took her or see the plate on the van?" he asked

"The van had no plates... and the man wore ski-masks... so I didn't get a good look at them either... sorry." Kiki replied and sighed a little. "But the one who pushed me had a gang tattoo on his arm."

James nodded, "What did the tattoo look like?" he asked

Kiki thought for a moment, before she looked up again.
"Familiar with Mala Noche?" she asked quietly.

James's ears perked up a bit when she said that, "I am" he replied, the tone in his voice changing a bit as he spoke

"I recognized the tattoo." Kiki said and sighed a little.

James nodded, knowing what the Mala Noche tat looked like

Kiki looked up at James, her big brown eyes now looking somewhat scared.

James saw it when he looked at her, "We will get her back" he said
